CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina's Jason Flanagan earned his second Men's Field Athlete of the Week honor of the season for his record-setting efforts at the UNF Invitational, the league announced on Wednesday.

Flanagan rewrote the Big South and Coastal Carolina record book for the second time this season as he won the javelin at the rain shortened North Florida Invitational on March 31. The Philadelphia, Pa., native threw for his record-setting distance of 72.87m (239-01) on his first attempt of the day. Flanagan nearly outdid himself on his second attempt with a throw of 72.34m (237-04). The senior's winning throw easily bested second-place finisher Andy Fahringer of Virginia by more than two meters. Fahringer entered the meet with the third-ranked javelin throw in the NCAA East Region this season after placing 11th in the country in 2011.

Flanagan currently ranks seventh in the country and fifth in the NCAA East Region. Additionally, the mark meets the "B" standard to possibly compete in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
