This Week: The Coastal Carolina softball team opens up Big South Conference play this weekend against Presbyterian College on Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25 in Clinton, S.C. Coastal plays the Blue Hose in a double-header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The two face each other in the final game of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Coastal heads into the weekend with a 23-9 record after splitting with the College of Charleston on Wednesday, March 21. The Cougars won the first game 5-0, while the Chanticleers came back to win the second game 2-1 in nine innings. Coastal will return home on Wednesday, March 28 in a double-header against Big South opponent Charleston Southern. The first game is set to start at 2 p.m.
Last Week: Coastal played in its final regular season tournament, as they traveled to Clearwater, Fla. to compete in the USF Under Armour Tournament on Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18. The Chanticleers went 2-3 on the weekend, beating Long Island in the opening game 1-0 on a Kory Hayden home run and they won the last game 10-0 in five innings behind a strong pitching performance by Kiana Quolas, who posted a career high eight strikeouts. Coastal fell to Hartford 1-0, Kent State 3-0 and to Boston University 7-1.

Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field
This week: The Chanticleers distance competitors and throwers head to Columbia to take part in the 28-team Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by South Carolina. The annual event gets underway on at noon on Friday with the men's hammer and javelin followed by the discus. Day one will conclude with the running of the men's 5,000m.
Saturday's field events start at 10:10 a.m. with the women's hammer and javelin followed by the discus at 1:40 p.m. Also at 1:40 p.m. the Coastal's men's throwers will wrap up the event with the shot put. The women's shot put will immediately follow.
The running Chants will be on the track early and often on Saturday starting with the women's 3,000m steeplechase at 10:15 a.m. Coastal's women wrap up the Chants' final event of the invitational when they toe the line for the 5,000m at 5:10 p.m.
Last Week: Coastal and the City of Myrtle Beach jointly hosted the CCU/Shamrock Invitational. Coastal turned in a bevy of top 10 finishes led by Jason Flanagan's school and Big South record throw of 70.30m (233-11) along with Letitia Saayman's first place time of 17:20.31 in the 5,000m. For their superb efforts, Flanagan was named the Big South Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Saayman earned Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Also garnering conference recognition was senior Kierra Gabe who was named the league's Women's Field Athlete of the Week after taking second in the triple jump (12.50m (41-00.25)) and third in the high jump (1.65m (5-05.00)) at the Shamrock Invitional.

This week: Coastal women's tennis is scheduled to play three matches this week opening with a 2 p.m. match on Friday, March 23 in Conway against Cornell. On Saturday University of Chicago will travel to Coastal beginning at 1 p.m. at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center. The week will commence with a 2:30 p.m. match at UNC-Wilmington.
Last week: The women's tennis team moved to 4-0 in the Big South and 11-1 overall record with a pair of conference wins over Gardner-Webb (4-3) and Campbell (4-3) last week.

This week: The men's tennis team looks to remain unbeaten in conference play (10-2, 2-0 BSC) and will begin a five game conference stretch starting on Saturday, March 24 at Radford beginning at noon. The Chants will then travel to Gardner-Webb the following day beginning at 1 p.m.
Last week: Coastal dropped only its second match of the year to the 40th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 5-2 on Sunday. Junior Yusuke Kusuda topped No. 117 ranked Thiago Pinheiro to remain undefeated on the season (11-0).
