CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina's men's track and field had several solid performance in the first day of the CCU Shamrock Invitational Friday, March 17.
Sophomore Thomas Jordan (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) finished first in the javelin with a throw of 64.33m (211'1"), while freshman teammate Kyle Hoddy (Griswold, Conn./Griswold) placed second with a toss of 59.09m (193'10"). Junior Galen Jones (Evans, Ga./Lakeside) posted his second consecutive personal best in the hammer with a throw of 56.48m (185'4"), finishing third in the event and improving his NCAA Regional qualifying mark. This throw also placed him in the second spot on CCU's all-time records. Junior Tommy Sugishita (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande (Moorpark JC)) threw 54.04m (177'4") to finish fourth in the event, while sophomore Jacob Edelman (Dryden, N.Y./Dryden) placed eighth with a personal-best toss of 49.94m (163'10"), the sixth-best throw in Coastal history and four meters longer than his previous best.
Competition will continue Saturday, March 18 at 9 a.m.
