CONWAY - Kyle Kling picked up a top finish in the 5,000m to lead the Coastal Carolina track & field teams in the final day of the annual Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Kling, who was Coastal's top finisher throughout the cross country season, won the 5,000m with a time of 14:57.47. Kling also won the 3,000m at the Battle of the Beaches at UNC Wilmington this season.
In the 3,000m, senior Ryan Caputo finished 11th with a time of 9:05.30 and Rob Delviscio crossed the finish line in 9:10.81.
Freshman Charlie Tidwell backed up his superb performance on day one with a sixth place finish in the discus with a throw of 150'00" (45.71m). Also competing in the discus were Tyler Swanson (136"2" / 41.50m) and Cameron Griggs (133'10" / 40.79m).
Senior Ross Graves turned in a sixth place finish in the high jump with clearing a height of 6'0.75" (1.85m).
The women's team was paced by two top four finishes in the discus by Anjulia Nicholson and Shantelle Patterson. Nicholson finished second with a distance of 137'08" (41.97m) while Patterson, who won the hammer throw on Friday, threw for 125'08" (38.30m) to place fourth.
Keegan Woodson, the Chants lone competitor in the long jump, leaped for 17'5.5" (5.32m) to place sixth while Kara Gajoch placed fifth in the high jump with a final height of 5'3" (1.60m).
The reigning Big South pole vault champion, Mary Lawrence, cleared 10'11.75" (3.35m) to start her run towards a repeat performance at the Conference championships in April.
Both squads will return to action on March 17-19 as hosts to the CCU/Shamrock Invitational held in Myrtle Beach.
