CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina had several outstanding performances on both the men's and women's squads at the CCU Invitational, Mar. 11-12, 2005.
Terah Kipchiris and Doug Currie also led a CCU sweep of the top two spots in the 5,000 meter run, as Kipchiris finished in 14:38.48. Jim Chmelik won the 110 high hurdles with a time of :14.89, while CCU's 4x400 meter relay squad edged out the team from Army at the line, winning 0.34 in a time of 3:17.02. Mark Johnson wrapped up the CCU event winners, as he cleared 4.90m (16' 0.75") to win the pole vault event.
Tamara Bryant posted regional qualifying marks in both the hammer and discus throwing events. Bryant won the discus with a throw of 48.50m (159' 1") and finished second behind former Lady Chanticleer and current CCU assistant coach Amber Campbell in the hammer, finishing with a best of 55.55m (182' 3").
Anne Marie Moutsinga and Claudia Witte finished 1-2 in the 5,000 meter run, while DeMiracle Washington won the triple jump with a leap of 11.85m (38' 10.5"). Sylvia Galarza finished as the runner-up in both the discus and the shot put events for Coastal.
Coastal's men's and women's track and field teams return to action, hosting the Shamrock's Invitational, Fri.-Sat., Mar. 18-19 in Conway.
