Former Baseball All-American Costanzo Makes Final Roster for Team Italy in World Baseball Classic

CONWAY, S.C. – Former Coastal Carolina University All-American Mike Costanzo has made the final roster for Team Italy for the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Costanzo and Team Italy will start action Saturday, March 7 against Venezuela at 8 p.m., at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.   Italy is in the same pool as the United States, Venezuela and Canada. The pool play ends March 11 with the top two teams of each pool advancing to San Diego, Calif., and Miami, Fla. The finals are set for Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., March 21-23.   Costanzo is part of the Baltimore Orioles organization and played 2008 with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides of the International League.   Costanzo was a First Team All-American by Baseball America in 2005, helping the Chanticleers to a 50-win season and a top-seed in the 2005 NCAA Tempe Regional. Costanzo ended his career hitting .356 with 45 home runs and 184 runs-batted-in.   Coastal Carolina hosts Baseball at the Beach Feb. 27-March 1 at BB&T Coastal Field. The Chanticleers face West Virginia Friday at 4 p.m.
