BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Coastal Carolina men's 4x100-meter relay team competed at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday.
The quartet of Corey Jameson, Chris Lawson, Tyler Askew and Lenny Steed stepped into the blocks in the third heat of the day with hopes of finishing in the top 12 of the 24-team field to advance to the NCAA Championship meet. Unfortunately, the Chanticleers were disqualified from the event after a baton hand off was made outside the first zone.
The Coastal 4x100-meter relay team qualified for the first round of the NCAA championships for the second consecutive season. The team earned the 22 seed at the meet after the foursome of Jameson, Lawson, Edlich and Steed posted a 40.27 at the Seminole Invitational. This same four-member team set the Coastal Carolina record of 40.10 at the 2010 NCAA East Preliminary Round.
The Chanticleers have now capped a successful 2011 campaign highlighted by a second place finish at the Big South Championship meet and nine individuals qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
