JACKSONVILL, Fla. - Jason Flanagan of the Coastal Carolina men's track & field team captured his second javelin win of the season on Saturday at the North Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
Flanagan, a junior, won the javelin competition with a throw of 66.52m (218-03) easily besting fellow Chanticleer Bryan Fill who placed second with a distance of 56.36m (184-11). In all four Chants placed in the top five of their respective events on the day.
Corey Jameson led the Coastal sprinters as he placed fifth in the 100 meter dash to win his heat with a personal best of 10.42. Chris Lawson finished 13th in the 200 meter dash with a 21.77 clip followed by Lenny Steed (16, 21.87), Ronnie Jackson (20, 22.25) and Raheen Frederick (21, 22.70). Both Jackson and Frederick's times were personal records. Stevie Brunson placed seventh in the 400 meters with a personal-best time of 48.16. Freshman Russel Kanner continued his impressive freshman campaign as he placed 11th in the 400 meter hurdles in 54.62.
The Chanticleers have now wrapped up their regular season of competition and only those who qualify for the NCAA East first round will continue to compete. The NCAA will announce all first round qualifiers on Thursday, May 19. The NCAA East first round will be contested in Bloomington Indiana from May 26-28.
