TALLAHASSEE, Fla. / DURHAM, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's track team finished the strong showings at both the Seminole and Duke Invitationals this weekend.

The Chanticleers sent its top distance and middle distance runners to the Duke Invitational; while the top Chants in the sprints, jumps and throw traveled south to take part in the Seminole Invitational.

At the Seminole Invitational hosted by Florida State, the Coastal Carolina sprinters finished with five top ten finishes including a win by the 4x100 meter relay team. The Chanticleer quartet of Corey Jameson, Chris Lawson, Ryan Edlich and Lenny Steed dazzled with a time of 40.27. The mark is a mere .17 second away from the Coastal Carolina record of 40.10.

Jameson equaled his season-best in the 100 meters with a time of 10.70 to place eighth in the 36 competitor field. Eleven Chants participated in the 200 meter with Lawson leading the way with a time of 21.77. Stevie Brunson, a sophomore, turned in a seventh place finish in the 400 meters as he crossed the finish line in 48.81.

Russel Kanner finished in the top ten of both the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. Kanner placed eighth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.31 and sixth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.68. Jacob Scheuer finished just outside the top ten in 11th with a time of 55.76 in the 400 meter hurdles.

The men from Conway also faired well in the field events as 13 top ten finishes were claimed. The triple jump saw Chad Phillips place fifth with a leap of 14.33m (47-00.25), while freshman Nehemiah Shelley placed seventh with a distance of 14.05m (46-01.25).

Jason Flanagan crushed his previous season best distance of 66.45m (218-00) as he threw for 70.09m (229-11) to easily win the event. Fellow Chanticleer, Bryan Fill placed second with a distance of 61.79m (202-09). Freshman Tyler Slapikas placed eighth with a toss of 54.20m (177-10).

Cameron Griggs, a freshman, finished with a fourth place showing in the shot put as he threw for a season-best 14.40m (47-03). Griggs also placed second in the discus with a final distance of 47.70m (156-06). Tyler Swanson finished fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.68m (153-02) and third in the discus (45.28m / 143-09).

Jacques Watson cleared 2.05m (6-08.75) in the high jump to place second. In the long jump Raheen Frederick was the first of thee Chanticleers to place in the top ten of the event. Frederick finished with a distance of 6.72m (22-00.75) to place fifth. Ross Graves leaped 6.47m (21-02.75) to place seventh followed by Burton Jones in eighth with a distance of 6.31m (20-08.50).

In the developmental section of the 200 meters at the Duke Invitational Tre'von Gee established a new personal best with a time of 22.91. Also placing well in the developmental section of the 1,500 meters was Cameron Wells with a time of 4:05.91.

Coastal Carolina will host the Chanticleer Classic next Saturday, April 16.
