CONWAY, S.C.- The Coastal Carolina University men's track and field team completed day two of the Coastal Carolina Invitational, on Saturday, March 13 at the Coastal Carolina Track and Field.
The Chanticleers day was highlighted in the field events as junior Ross Graves won the high jump, tying a personal-best 6'8.75" (2.05 meters). Freshman Jerry Ntumba took sixth in the event, jumping to 6'2.75" (1.90 meters). Ntumba also participated in the triple jump, placing sixth with a mark of 44'3.15" (13.49 meters).
In the track events, senior Max Hacker took third out of 63 participants in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:01.50. Following Hacker was freshman Jarod Williams in 18th with a time of 4:10.36 and senior John Heron at 4:13.65 in 27th place.
In the 800-meter run, redshirt-senior Jamie McCarthy took 10th with a time of 1:57.90 and junior Christian Mendez followed with a time of 2:03.80 in 26th place. In the 400-meter dash, junior Jacob Scheuer was the lone Chanticleer participant, finishing 21st with a time of 51.18.
Capping off the rest of the of the field events, senior CJ Smiley took eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 45'6.5" (13.88 meters). Redshirt-freshman Stanley Davis tossed 43'1.75" (13.15 meters), taking 16th place, and sophomore Tyler Swanson threw a 43'01" (13.13 meters) in 17th place. Freshman Derrick El-Nou Nou and sophomore Jason Jensen rounded out the field, tossing 42'8.75" (13.02 meters) and 43'3.50" (12.89 meters), respectively.
In the discus throw, Swanson placed in 15th with a throw of 135'5" (41.29 meters) and Jensen followed in 17th with 132'3" (40.30 meters).
The Chanticleers will complete their three-meet home stand as they host the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational on March 18-20.
