Coastal Carolina's men's track and field competed Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Sykes and Sabock Challenge Cup at Penn State University. The Chanticleers earned 10 top 10 finishes at the event.
Senior Corey Jameson placed first in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.81. Junior Chris Lawson and freshman Tyler Askew followed behind finishing third and fourth with times of 6.83 and 6.86, respectively.
Junior Kyle Kling finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:11.80. Close behind was senior teammate Ryan Caputo, finishing seventh with a time of 15:50.92.
Finishing tenth in the 60-meter hurdles, junior Shane Norris crossed the line in 8.43.
Coastal's 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of Stevie Brunson, Evan Desaulniers, Jacob Scheuer and Darren Tymczak, finished ninth with a time of 3:22.44.
Askew also had a good day in the field events, placing seventh in the long jump with a distance of 23'0.75" (7.03m).
Junior Burton Jones finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 47'7.25" (14.51m) while freshman Nehemiah Shelley finishing seventh with a distance of 47'1.75" (14.37m).
