BLACKSBURG, Va.-The men's track and field team participated in the first day of Virginia Tech Indoor Invitational on Friday, January 15 in Blacksburg, Va. The Chanticleers sent 14 athletes this weekend, with three placing in the top-15 on the first day.
Senior Jack Hutchison had a great start to the season, placing eighth in a very competitive 60-meter hurdle final with a time of 8.08. In the weight throw, sophomore Jason Jensen had a team-best fourth- place finish with a throw of 57-05.00". Sophomore Corey Jameson had a strong showing, running a 6.99 in the 60-meter dash to take a 15th-place finish out of 34 participants.
Also participating in the 60-meter dash was redshirt-junior Leonard Steed with a time of 7:11 and junior Ryan Edlich finishing a second behind. Senior Kasheem Clifton placed 20th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.63 and sophomore Shane Norris finished with a time of 9.03.
In other events, freshman Stevie Brunson ran a 36.53 in the 300-meter dash, senior Alex Levy followed at 37.03 and sophomore Darren Tymczak finished at 37.89. Junior Jacob Scheuer was the only Chanticleer in the 500-meter dash, finishing 25th with a time of 1:09.80.
The Chanticleers will continue the invitational tomorrow, participating in select events starting at 11 a.m.
