Reuben Jones is entering his first season as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina University. Previously, Jones was an assistant coach at the University of Virginia for one season.
At Virginia, Jones helped coach the men's outdoor track and field team to an Atlantic Coast Conference title for the first time in program history. He coached the program's first-ever 110-meter hurdle champion, four All-ACC performers and eight NCAA Regional Qualifiers. Jones is a USATF Level 1 certified coach.
Prior to coaching, Jones received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Virginia in 2008 and was a member of the track and field team for four years. Jones currently ranks second all-time in Virginia history in the 100-meter dash (10.46) and the 60-meter dash (6.79) and fourth all-time in the 200-meters (21.16). He was the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America Champion in the 100-meter and 200-meter in 2007. Jones was named to the USTFCCCA All-East Region Team in 2008 in the 4x100-meter relay and ranked in the top 100 in the NCAA in the 100-meters and 200-meters his junior and senior years.
