Coastal Carolina's mens tennis team and head coach Chris Powers will be donating all proceeds from their upcoming sale of game programs at the football game between Coastal and Mansfield, Nov. 12, to the local charity Fostering Hope, Powers announced this morning, Nov. 4.Fostering Hope is a program designed to give foster children the opportunity to participate in sports and after school programs on the Grand Strand. The mens tennis team will be wearing Fostering Hope t-shirts before the game and will present the check to the programs coordinator at another fundraising event in early December.
This is the second time this season that the mens tennis team has had a fundraising event at a Coastal football game. At the James Madison game, Sept. 10, the mens tennis team raised $800 for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
"The mens tennis program is always eager to help out our local community," Powers stated. "Im really proud that these young men do such a solid job with community service. They recognize their efforts do make a difference."
The mens tennis team will begin its spring season on Jan. 28, 2006, against The Citadel.
