Men's Tennis To Raise Money for Fostering Hope

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina's men’s tennis team and head coach Chris Powers will be donating all proceeds from their upcoming sale of game programs at the football game between Coastal and Mansfield, Nov. 12, to the local charity Fostering Hope, Powers announced this morning, Nov. 4.

Fostering Hope is a program designed to give foster children the opportunity to participate in sports and after school programs on the Grand Strand. The men’s tennis team will be wearing Fostering Hope t-shirts before the game and will present the check to the programs coordinator at another fundraising event in early December.

This is the second time this season that the men’s tennis team has had a fundraising event at a Coastal football game. At the James Madison game, Sept. 10, the men’s tennis team raised $800 for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

"The men’s tennis program is always eager to help out our local community," Powers stated. "I’m really proud that these young men do such a solid job with community service. They recognize their efforts do make a difference."

The men’s tennis team will begin its spring season on Jan. 28, 2006, against The Citadel.
