Men's Tennis Continues Fall Season at USC Fall Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C.– The Coastal Carolina University men’s tennis team continued its fall season at the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational Oct. 17-19 in Columbia, S.C. Two players won championships in their respective flight.

Sophomore Florentin Meynie (Nanterre, France) won the B-1 singles title with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 win over Hampton’s Fernando Uehara. Meynie and freshman Richard Redding (Winscombe, England) both advanced to the semifinals of the B-1 Division. Freshman Darko Fridl (Zagreb, Croatia) won the B-2 singles crown with a 6-3, 6-0 win over USC-Spartanburg’s Lennart Lepner. Fridl also defeated Wofford’s Michael Barber 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals.

The doubles team of Fridl and freshman Simon Taylor (Hampshire, England) advanced to the semifinals of the B Doubles group before falling to Barton’s Adrian Balluyot and Robert Jenner 8-6.

The Coastal men’s team finishes the fall season Oct. 25-27 at the Rolex Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C.
