COLUMBIA, S.C. The Coastal Carolina University mens tennis team continued its fall season at the University of South Carolina Fall Invitational Oct. 17-19 in Columbia, S.C. Two players won championships in their respective flight.
Sophomore Florentin Meynie (Nanterre, France) won the B-1 singles title with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 win over Hamptons Fernando Uehara. Meynie and freshman Richard Redding (Winscombe, England) both advanced to the semifinals of the B-1 Division. Freshman Darko Fridl (Zagreb, Croatia) won the B-2 singles crown with a 6-3, 6-0 win over USC-Spartanburgs Lennart Lepner. Fridl also defeated Woffords Michael Barber 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals.
The doubles team of Fridl and freshman Simon Taylor (Hampshire, England) advanced to the semifinals of the B Doubles group before falling to Bartons Adrian Balluyot and Robert Jenner 8-6.
The Coastal mens team finishes the fall season Oct. 25-27 at the Rolex Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C.
