CONWAY, S.C. Coastal Carolinas mens tennis team returns to action this weekend as it hosts the Planet Hollywood/Chanticleer Challenge Sept. 29-30 at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center in a fall tournament.
Coastal will square off against The Citadel and UNC Wilmington in the round robin tournament. Every player is scheduled to play in three singles match and three doubles matches. The matches are schedule to take place on the courts from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.
Planet Hollywood will be on campus for giveaways at the tournament at 2 p.m.
Last season CCU beat The Citadel 5-2 and lost to UNC Wilmington 5-2 during the spring tennis season.
"I expect our players to be mentally ready to defend our home court just like it was dual match in the spring," Head Coach Chris Powers said, " The Citadel and UNC Wilmington are both talented teams that will certainly challenge us if we are not ready to play."
Already this season, Coastals doubles team of juniors Elliott Quibell (Derby, England/Cheam (Colorado)) and Simon Taylor (Hampshire, England/Queen Marys College) were doubles champions at the UNCW/Landfall Invitational.
Following Thursdays and Fridays event, Coastal will next be in action Oct. 14-16 as it travels to Columbia, S.C., to compete in the South Carolina Fall Invitational.
