Coastal Carolina's men's tennis doubles team of Elliott Quibell (Derby, England/Cham (Colorado)) and Simon Taylor (Hampshire, England/Queen Mary's College) won the men's doubles championship at the UNCW/Landfall Invitational with their win this afternoon, Sept. 10 on the second day of the tournament.Quibell and Taylor defeating the UNC Wilmington team of Ciao Piacentini and Henrique Meloni 9-7 in the championship game.
In other doubles action Coastal's Andy Caress (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) and Richard Redding (Winscombie, England/ Queen Elizabeth's Hospital) won their match against the Mount Olive's College team of Serra and Olarte 8-6.
In singles action Taylor was defeated by eventually singles champion Piacentini 6-4, 3-6 10-5 in the Teal Bracket. Caress was defeated by Kevin Beard (Elon) 6-4 and 6-2. CCU's Quibell was defeated by Sandeep Daiya 6-3, 5-7 and 10-8.
Coastal Carolina's men's tennis team will next be in action Sept. 16 in the Wolfpack Invitational hosted by the North Carolina State
