Schneider, Planchard Join Men’s Tennis Staff

Aug. 30, 2017

CONWAY - Former Coastal Carolina men’s tennis student-athletes Sebastian Schneider and Nic Planchard have rejoined the Chanticleers as assistant and volunteer coaches, respectively.

Schneider played for the Chants from 2015-17 before earning his undergraduate degree in business management. Schneider was an all-conference selection and closed his two-year Chanticleer career with overall records of 24-12 in singles and 13-22 in doubles. He was also a key member of the 2016 Big South Championship squad and helped the Chanticleers return to the NCAA Tournament. A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Schneider worked at the Field Club of Greenwich in Connecticut before returning to Coastal.

Planchard, who played for the Chants during the 2015-16 season after transferring from Tusculum, graduated from Coastal this past spring with a degree in biology. Like Schneider, Planchard was a member of the 2016 Chanticleer team that captured the Big South Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He is currently training in Europe and is a top-100 ranked player in Belgium.

“Sebastian and Nic will be key assets to our tennis program,” said head Coach Chris Powers. “I feel very lucky to have men of their caliber in these roles with our young team. They represented Coastal well as student-athletes and will continue to do so in their new positions.”
