CONWAY - Chris Powers, head coach of Coastal Carolina University's men's tennis team, has been selected to again serve on the ITA Carolina Regional Coaches Committee.
The ITA Regional Committee is responsible for voting on rankings and entries for the Regional Championships for teams, singles and doubles teams.
Powers has served the Regional Committee under Chair Mike Leonard from Elon the past two years and will serve under new Chair Ramsey Smith from Duke this year. He will be joined by coaches from South Carolina, Wake Forest, UNC Greensboro and Winthrop.
"I am very honored that Coach Ramsey has asked me to remain on the regional committee," said Powers. "I look forward to working with the committee in the upcoming season."
Powers enters his 12th season overall at Coastal Carolina, ninth as head coach of the men's team. Behind Powers, the Chants have posted a winning record every season since 2009-10, including a 14-6 overall record last season that ended one win short of playing for a Big South Championship after a semifinal loss to Presbyterian.
Powers and his team are preparing for the 2012-13 campaign which will kick off Friday, September 14 with the Big Teal vs. Big Orange match against Campbell at Coastal Carolina.
