Men's Tennis Falls to Charleston Southern, 5-2
More Information: CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis squad wrapped up the 2007 regular season with a 5-2 loss to visiting Charleston Southern, Apr. 14 at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center. With the loss, the Chanticleers fall to 14-10 on the year and 3-4 in Big South Conference play.
CCU got it started right by earning the doubles point. Simon Taylor and Andy Career posted a 9-8 victory at No. 1 over Jonathan Dean and Lee Schutte of CSU, while Coastal's David Mellis and Joseph Withers got the other victory for Coastal, defeating Quentin Guichard and Babar Akbar, 8-6. In singles, Elliott Quibell got the only win for CCU, defeating Steven Dean in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. The Chants had a chance to win the match, but lost two tough three-set matches to the visiting Bucs.
Coastal has earned the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Big South Conference Men's Tennis Championships in Radford, Va., Apr. 17-19. The Chants will take on No. 4 High Point on Thu., Apr. 17 at 10:30 a.m. in the quarterfinals.
