Yusuke Kusuda Named Big South Player of the Week

This is Kusuda's second consecutive Player of the Week honor.

Charlotte, N.C. - Yusuke Kusuda of the Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced today. This is the second consecutive week that Kusuda has received the Player of the Week honor. 

Kusuda went undefeated at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles, helping Coastal Carolina earn two Conference wins, as well as a win over East Carolina.  To start the week, Kusuda and partner Ted Nilsson downed Campbell’s duo, 8-4.  He then defeated Adrien Rossingnon, 6-3, 6-2.  Against Longwood, he recorded an 8-4 doubles win and a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Daniel Elston.  Kusuda concluded his week winning two contests against East Carolina.  He once again teamed up with Nilsson for an 8-3 win, while overcoming John Schmitt, 6-3, 6-4 for a crucial singles point.  

The Chants will return to the court this Friday for senior day as they play host to Big South rival Winthrop. Kusuda, Matias Di Pasquale and John Karle are Coastal’s three seniors that will be honored before the 1 p.m. match.
