The Coastal Carolina University men’s tennis team (6-6) fell to Elon University 4-2 March 11 in Elon, N.C. Rain forced the last singles match to be played indoors and halted all doubles play.

Coastal won at number five and six singles. Sophomore Ryan Vrba (Algonquin, Ill.) defeated Kyle Smailek 6-1, 6-2 at number-five singles, while junior Brian Dowis (Yorktown, Va.) defeated Alex Garrett 6-4, 6-1. The match between sophomore Richard Redding (Winscombe, England) and Sebastian Bredberg was moved indoors, as Bredberg won 7-5, 6-3

Coastal’s Big South match against UNC Asheville has been postponed, so the Chanticleers next match will be Sunday, March 13, against Longwood, beginning at noon in Farmville, Va.
