CONWAY, S.C. The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team (8-1) defeated UNC Greensboro by a score of 7-0, and the CCU men's tennis team (1-6) lost to the Spartans, 2-5, Sunday at the Billy Nichols Tennis Courts.
On the women's side, senior Medina Bajrambasic and junior Marie Matrka won 8-5 at the first doubles spot, while sophomore Petra Jantti and junior Stephanie Koot were victorious at the third position, 8-4. All six singles matches ended in Coastal victories, including a 6-3, 7-6 (7) victory for Bajrambasic at the one spot.
For the men, freshmen Simon Taylor and Andy Caress won at the third doubles spot, but UNCG clinched the point by winning at one and two. In singles, CCU came away with wins from freshmen Richard Redding and Ryan Vrba at the fifth and sixth positions, but the Spartans won 1-4.
Coastal women's tennis continues play Wednesday, March 10, traveling to East Carolina University for a 2 p.m. match. The men are back in action this Tuesday, March 9, hosting James Madison at 1 p.m.
