The third doubles match also was for Coastal, as the team of Mellis/Dowis defeated the Highlanders team of Brandon Johnson/Tyler Early 8-4.
"Obviously, we would have liked the win, but a lot of good things can come from today," head coach Chris Powers commented. "We played excellent in doubles play, which I really hope to build on for the rest of the season. Our singles play fell short, but I'm encouraged by the guys effort today. Radford is certainly one of the better teams in the Big South this season."
Coastal will return to action next weekend. On Friday, Mar. 3, the Chants start its three-match weekend road swing by traveling to Winston Salem State for a 2:30 p.m. match. Coastal continues the trip by heading to Gardner-Webb for a 1:30 match on Saturday, Mar. 4. The Chants weekend and travel ends in Gaffney, S.C. as CCU takes on Limestone on Sunday, Mar. 5 at noon.
