Men's Tennis' Perez and Ramos Earn National Ranking

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's tennis pair, senior German Perez (Valencia, Spain/Collegio Helios (UALR)) and junior Ernesto Ramos (Tampico, Mexico/Instituto Andes (Jacksonville)), were ranked No. 68 by collegetennisonline.com this week. This is Coastal Carolina's first-ever national ranking under head coach Chris Powers.

"I knew these guys could have a special season if they came together as a team," Powers continued. "This national ranking reflects the commitment there is in our program to reach new heights this season and beyond. I know German and Ernesto both believe they can improve from here on and ultimately the goal is to make the NCAA tournament as a doubles team. They will certainly get the opportunity with the tough schedule to come and I'm excited to see how well they do the rest of the Spring."

Perez and Ramos are 6-1 at the No. 1 doubles spot this season. The duo won their first six matches of the season helping Coastal Carolina to its best start in program history at 8-0, but was tripped up Friday, Feb. 20 when they fell 6-8 to The Citadel's Yufo Sutantio and Michael Kociecki. Before that setback, Coastal Carolina had not lost a doubles point all season. The team won five of the six singles point to defeat The Citadel 5-2 and stretched its winning streak to eight matches.

The tandem returns to the court Thursday, Feb. 26 when the team travels to Longwood. Matches are slated to begin at 2 p.m.
