Men's and Women's Tennis Fall to Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S .C.– The Coastal Carolina University men’s and women’s tennis team fell to Wofford College Feb. 7, in Spartanburg, S.C. The men fell 7-0 to the Terriers while the women lost a 4-3 heartbreaker.

On the men’s side, freshmen Darko Fridl and Andy Caress won their doubles match against Alex Fridzon and Jason Mengel 8-2. The women won the doubles point with wins from senior Medina Bajrambasic and junior Marie Matrka as well as sophomore Petra Jantti and junior Stephanie Koot. Junior Viriginie Dinh took her singles match against Tara Hartness 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Jantti defeated Lauren Marie Whisenhunt 6-2, 6-2. But the Lady Chants lost the other four singles matches, including a 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 win by Delaine Hare over freshman Nicole Lemmerer.

Coastal opens its home schedule Sunday, Feb. 8, against North Carolina A&T at noon.
