CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team, coming off a tie for second last season, was picked to once again finish in a tie for second this season, according to a poll of the conference's head men's tennis coaches.
Coastal was 14-6 overall and 5-2 in the league last season and the tie for second was the best conference finish in the 11-year tenure of Chanticleer head coach Chris Powers, as well as the program's highest finish since 1996.
Radford, who won the 2012 Big South regular season and tournament titles, was picked to win the league in 2013 as well.
The Chanticleers return seven of its eight players from last season, including Yusuke Kusuda who was All-Big South in singles and Matias Di Pasquale who won the Big South No. 4 single's flight. Coach Powers has added newcomers Stefan Jakubov, Hunter Whalen and transfer Ted Nilsson.
Coastal will open the spring season Jan. 27 in Charleston, S.C., facing Mercer at The Citadel. The Chants will play their home opener Feb.8 versus USC Upstate, the first of four straight home matches.
