Cary, N.C. - Philippe Tsangaridis of the Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team was eliminated from contention in the singles draw on Friday after dropping a round-of-32 match to fifth-seeded Cameron Silverman of Elon. Tsangaridis was the only Chanticleer to advance past the second round in singles play.
Tsangaridis won matches against North Carolina and North Carolina State on Thursday to set up his third round match against Silverman on Friday. Silverman then downed Tsangaridis in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Coastal’s two doubles teams were also eliminated on Friday. Leo Christofides and Tsangaridis lost 8-6 to NC State’s pair of Robbie Mudge and Sean Weber. The CCU duo of Ted Nilsson and Garik Yedigarian then fell 8-5 to Ben Kelley and Ryan Miller of Presbyterian.
The Chants finish the 2013 ITA Carolina Regional with four singles wins. The Regional also marks the end of the fall portion of the Chanticleers 2013-14 season.
