Faria Continues to Advance In ITA Regional Singles Bracket

CARY, N.C. - Luiz Faria continued his impressive run through the singles bracket at the ITA Carolina Regional, defeating Wake Forest’s Alan Gadjiev on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s fourth round.

Faria won Saturday’s match in three sets, overcoming a 1-6 loss in the first to take the match 6-4, 6-4 in the second and third sets.

The junior will face another tough test on Sunday as he’s scheduled to face Henry Patten of UNC Asheville.

Doubles play also started on Saturday, but the two Chanticleer pairings that competed were eliminated in the opening round.

Juan Castellanos and Faria fell 6-2, 6-2 to Cameron Green and Jake Munns of Furman, while Paul Boylay and Zak Talic were downed 6-1, 6-0 by Robert Kelly and Simon Soendergaard of North Carolina.

In the consolation singles draw, Boulay defeated Charleston’s Alec Angradi on Saturday to advance to Sunday’s second round.
