Christofides and Tsangaridis Win Doubles Flight at UVA Fall Classic

Charlottesville, Va. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team concluded play Sunday at the University of Virginia Fall Classic where the Chanticleers produced a doubles flight champion, and had a singles player advance to a flight final. 

In doubles play, the CCU pair of Philippe Tsangaridis and Leo Christofides were the winners of the Black doubles flight after taking three straight matches. The duo cruised to an 8-2 win in a semifinal match against East Tennessee State's Pubon/Knox, before handing an 8-5 loss to McCourt/Davis of Princeton in flight final. 

Ted Nilsson
advanced to the final of the Gold singles flight, where he fell to Dan Davies of Princeton, 6-2, 6-4. Nilsson won his first two matches on Friday, downing opponents from Norfolk State and George Mason. Nilsson then advanced past the semifinals on Saturday via injury to UVA's Jonny Cornish. 

"This was an excellent tournament and I was pleased with the overall resutls of the team," said head coach Chris Powers. "We are a work in progress but I can see a steady improvement in the program."
