Greenville, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team notches three singles wins and one doubles victory on Saturday, the second day of the East Carolina Invitational.
After a three hour rain delay that pushed the start of competition to 11 p.m., there was one round of singles and one round of doubles that was not played.
In singles action, Leo Christofides, Philippe Tsangarides, and Rick Timmerman all bested their respective opponents. Christofides won a three set battle, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7, over James Madison’s Sebastien Salinas in the Purple Pod. In the Gold Pod, Tsangarides bested Brett Moorhead of James Madison, 6-3, 7-5. Coastal’s final singles win came in the Pirate Pod, where Timmerman downed Miljan Ruzic of JMU, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Coastal’s lone doubles win came from Tsangarides and Nilsson outlasted James Maidson’s pair of Stirling and Moorhead, 8-4.
The final day of the East Carolina Invitational on Sunday will consist of the singles and doubles rounds that were cancelled today, as well as the regularly scheduled matches.
