Men's Tennis Falls to Troy in Sun Belt First Round

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The fifth-seeded Coastal Carolina men's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to #4 Troy in the opening round of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championship Friday afternoon at City Park Tennis Courts.

The Chanticleers end the 2017 season 13-9 overall. Troy, meanwhile, improves to 14-10 and advances to Saturday's quarterfinal round of the tournament.

Troy started the sweep by capturing the doubles point on courts two and three, then followed with singles points on courts six, four and five.

Mustapha Belcora and Pablo Moreno opened the match with a 6-2 victory over Sebastian Schneider and Zak Talic at No. 2. Coastal then evened the point as Luiz Faria and Vuk Velickovic topped Andre Baldo and Hassan Ndaysishimiye, 6-3, on the first court. Troy's third pairing of Andy Lau and Filip Mansson clinched the opening point, defeating Francesco Migliano and Francesco Cori Gamero, 7-6, (7-5).

Amer Bedwan won the first singles point at No. 6 in straight sets over Jose Ortega. Belcora (No. 4) and Jaiqi Duan (No. 5) then sealed the match with two more straight-sets victories.
