CONWAY - Coastal Carolina seniors Ted Nilsson and Leo Christofides each contributed singles and doubles wins in their last home match as the Chanticleer men's tennis team took a commanding 7-0 win over Longwood on Sunday to close out the regular season.

With the win the Chanticleers improve to 12-9, 4-4 and bypass Gardner-Webb to clinch the sixth seed in the Big South tournament this week. Coastal will look to avenge last week's 4-3 loss to Liberty as the Chants and third-seeded Flames (12-9, 5-3) are slated to meet in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Wednesday.

The Chanticleers opened the match with dominant performances on all three doubles courts to win the first point.

Nilsson and Jabor Al-Mutawa teamed up at No. 3 to deliver an 8-1 blow to Longwood's pairing of James Fudge and Steed Johnson.

Christofides and Philippe Tsangaridis followed up with an 8-6 win over Daniel Elston and Edward Becker on the first court to clinch the doubles point.

Garik Yedigarian and Renan Samed completed the doubles sweep at No. 2 with an 8-5 victory against Warren Bryan and Bharani Sankar.

Sophomore Hunter Whalen picked up the match's first singles point at No. 6 where he bested Sankar in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. Yedigarian gave the Chants a commanding 3-0 lead after recording a 6-0, 6-2 win on the third court against Johnson. #101 Tsangaridis, playing his first match of the season at No. 2, clinched the match for Coastal after downing Becker 6-2, 6-1.

Christofides gave Coastal its fifth point of the day with a straight-sets win at No. 5. The senior cruised past Higgs in the second set after taking the first set by a close 7-5 score.

Playing in his first match at No. 1, Nilsson won a three-set tiebreaker 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 against Elston and Samed gave Coastal its final point of the day with a hard-fought 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 4.

The Big South Conference men's tennis championship begins Tuesday with first-round action in Boiling Springs, N.C. Fans can follow the Chanticleers' progress throughout the tournament this week right here on GoCCUSports.com.
