WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team dropped its first match of the year to nationally ranked UNC Wilmington Friday 5-2.

The Seahawks entered the match ranked No. 43, swept the doubles portion of the match and won four singles matches improving to 3-1 while Coastal dropped its first match of the season falling to 2-1.

"I was pleased with our overall team effort," said head coach Chris Powers. "We played hard at the top of the singles lineup and went deep with a very good UNC Wilmington team."

Playing in the No. 1 singles slot, Danny Heidecker won his match against Chris Cooprider, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4. Yusuke Kusuda, playing at the fourth position, earned the other point for Coastal after defeating Kosta Blank 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.

Coastal Carolina returns to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Spartanburg, S.C. when the team faces the Wofford Terriers at 1 p.m.
