Men's Soccer Earns Academic Award

CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team was one of 218 teams to earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year.

To qualify for the award, teams must post a grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the calendar year. Coastal Carolina earned the honor for the fifth consecutive time and ninth overall award under head coach Shaun Docking.

In addition to being named the Big South Defensive Player of the Year senior Cyprian Hedrick was named to the Big South All-Academic team. The Chanticleers held a 3.17 team GPA with Hedrick holding a 3.5 while majoring in marketing.

The Coastal Carolina women's team also earned NSCAA All-Academic recognition, making Coastal Carolina one of only 157 schools nationwide to have both its men's and women's program recognized.
