Soccer Heading to Stanford with Top-10 Ranking in Hand
Conway - With its upset against eighth-ranked Clemson in the rear view mirror, the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers are now focusing on another road trip against another top-ranked opponent in Stanford University.
The Cardinal are coming off a 0-0 tie with Pacific, but was able to advance by the way of penalty kicks (4-1) after double-overtime could not produce a winner. Stanford is ranked second in the nation with a 15-2-2 record.
In the latest TopDrawer Soccer Poll, the Chanticleers have moved into the top-10 and will travel to California with a national ranking of eighth. The two teams are set to play in the third round of the NCAA Championship Sunday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. (8 p.m. ET). The match will take place on Maloney Field at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
The match will feature possibly the two hottest teams in the nation on the pitch. Over its last 10 matches the Cardinal are 8-0-2 while over the same time span the Chanticleers are 9-0-1.
