Men's Soccer to Face Seton Hall in NCAA Tourney

CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina University will face Seton Hall University in the opening round of the 2001 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m. The host and tournament's number two seed University of Virginia will play the winner of the Coastal-Seton Hall match on Sunday afternoon.

Coastal Carolina (10-7-3) earned the program's third bid to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big South Conference Championship and the League's automatic bid. Seton Hall (10-6-2) received an at-large bid after being ranked in the top-20 earlier this season.

A glance at the results from both squads may point to a pair of teams going in different directions. Coastal Carolina had a slow start to the season - losing four of its first five matches. The Chanticleers turned things around as the season progressed and enter the NCAA Tournament having posted a 6-1-2 record in their last nine outings.

Meanwhile, the Pirates went 7-1-1 in the first half of their season, but have fallen on hard times down the stretch. In the last nine games, Seton Hall has a 3-5-1 record, including dropping three of its final four matches of the season.
