Men's Soccer to Face South Carolina in NCAA Tourney

CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina University will face South Carolina in the opening round of the 2002 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 4:00 p.m. The winner of the Coastal-USC match will face Clemson on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Coastal Carolina, who fell to Winthrop, 1-0 in Sunday's Big South final, will make its second straight apperance and fourth overall.

These two schools met during the 2002 regular season at the CYDC Invitational in Mt. Pleasant, with the Chants prevailing, 3-0 over the Gamecocks.

"We are excited about returning to the NCAA tournament", said head coach Shaun Docking. " We are excited to be playing South Carolina again, however we know that it will be difficult to beat them twice in the same year."
