Men's Soccer Seeded Fourth in BSC Championship

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Big South Conference has announced that Coastal Carolina University will be the number four seed in the Conference's Men's Soccer Championship, which begins this Thursday, November 15, in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Coastal, which tied Winthrop for third place at the end of the regular season, but lost the third seed in the tiebreaker process. The Chanticleers will face fifth-seeded Radford University at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The opening round game between the Highlanders and Chants should be a good one as Coastal defeated Radford 1-0 in the regular season. The lone score came on a penalty kick goal by junior Tobin Whitmarsh

UNC Asheville posted the first small victory of the tournament by winning the top seed after taking the tiebreaker over Liberty University. UNCA, which was picked to finish last in the preseason polls, will face the tournament's eighth seed High Point University at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Other first round games include #2 Liberty vs. #7 Charleston Southern at 4:30 p.m. and #3 seed Winthrop vs. #6 seed Elon at 7:00 p.m.

The winner of the UNC Asheville-High Point match will face the winner of the Coastal-Radford match at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the other semifinal will feature the winners of the Liberty-Charleston Southern and Winthrop-Elon matches at 6:00 p.m. The championship game will be played on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the 2001 NCAA Tournament.
