Hughes Named Big South’s Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior Jordie Hughes (Victoria, B.C./Spectrum) was named the Big South Conference’s Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6, the conference office announced Nov. 8.

Hughes played a part in all three of Coastal’s goals over the weekend in CCU’s 3-1 win over conference rival Liberty. Against the Flames, Hughes tallied the game winning goal at the 30th minute, then scored again just over a minute later. He picked up his fifth point of the afternoon on an assist on the Chanticleers third goal of the game.

With five points last week, Hughes now has 22 points this season and 113 in his career, which is good for fourth place at Coastal. Hughes now has eight goals this season, upping his career goals to 44, which is also fourth on CCU’s all-time list.

Hughes is the second Chanticleer to be named the Big South’s Player of the Week this season. On Oct. 23, goalkeeper Aaron Weant (Morrisville, N.C./Green Hope) took home the hardware.

Coastal Carolina’s men’s soccer team travel to High Point, N.C.  to take on High Point, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m., in the first round of the Big South Tournament.
