CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina University men's soccer team won the 2009 Big South men's soccer regular-season championship, and has earned the No. 1 seed in next week's Big South Men's Soccer Championship in High Point, N.C., it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon when the Chanticleers beat Radford Highlanders 3-1.
This is the ninth regular-season championship for the Chanticleers and sixth under Head Coach Shaun Docking. The last time the Chanticleers won the title was in 2007.
The Chanticleers finished the season with a 5-0-3 League mark for 18 points. High Point posted a 5-1-2 League record and 17 points to pick up the No. 2 seed. Liberty and Winthrop finished the season with identical 4-2-2 records with Liberty holding the tiebreaker over Winthrop to pick up the No. 3 seed. Gardner-Webb earned the No. 5 seed with a 4-3-1 record and 13 points. UNC Asheville posted a 2-5-1 record to pick up the No. 6 seed. Radford came in at the No. 7 slot with a 1-4-3 record for six points and VMI rounds out the seeds with a 1-7 record and three points.
The 2009 Big South Men's Soccer Championship will be played on the campus of High Point University and begins Thursday, Nov. 12 with four games, and concludes with the Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 15. All seven games of the Big South Men's Soccer Championship will air live on the Big South Network. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.

Game 1: No. 4 Winthrop vs. #5 Gardner-Webb, 12:00pm ET
Game 2: No. 1 Coastal Carolina vs. #8 VMI, 2:30pm ET
Game 3: No. 3 Liberty vs. No. 6 UNC Asheville, 5:00pm ET
Game 4: No. 2 High Point vs. No. 7 Radford, 7:30pm ET
