No. 19 Coastal Carolina Travels to Wofford Tuesday

CONWAY - The nationally ranked Coastal Carolina men's soccer team steps out of conference play when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to face the Wofford Terriers Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6:00 p.m.

Coastal has won seven consecutive games compiling an 11-2 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in the Big South Conference. Wofford holds a 4-8-1 overall record including a 0-4 showing in the Southern Conference. The Chanticleers are 2-1 this season against Southern Conference opponents.

This is the ninth meeting between the two schools with the Chanticleers leading the series 5-2-1. Coastal downing the Terriers 1-0 in a double overtime game in Conway last season.

Coastal recorded its first two shutouts during league play after topping High Point 2-0 on Wednesday and UNC Asheville 3-0 on Saturday. Ashton Bennett recorded a pair of goals against UNC Asheville to raise his season total to 14 on a mere 18 shots on frame. He entered last week ranked third in the NCAA with 12 goals.

With four shutouts this season, Scott Angevine moved into sole possession of third place on the all-time shutout list in Coastal Carolina history with 15. The Kansas City, Kan., native only needs one more clean sheet to tie the all-time record of 16 held by Chris Malinky (1997-2000) and Neal Robinson (1993-96).

Coastal enters the match averaging 2.85 goals per game while holding opponents to 0.85 goals per game. In the past two games the Chants added five goals to their already national leading attack bringing their total to 37 goals.
