CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Striker Ashton Bennett of the 10th-ranked Coastal Carolina men's soccer team has been named the Big South Conference Attacking Player of the Week for games played Oct. 8-14, the league announced on Tuesday.
The award is the second of the season for the senior and fourth conference Player of the Week plaudit for a Chanticleer this season. Bennett earned Attacking Player of the Week honors after the opening week of the season, while Scott Shewfelt and Uchenna Uzo have each garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The Coastal Carolina men's soccer team dominated the Winthrop Eagles, 6-0, to clinch at least a share of the Big South regular season championship Saturday afternoon at Eagle Field.

After a somewhat slow start to the season for the speedy forward, Bennett has caught fire as of late. He has found the back of the net seven times in his last four outings, including a pair of goals in each of the last three games. Bennett currently ranks fourth in the NCAA in total goals with 11. He ranks 6th in total points (25), ninth in goals per game (0.79) and 11th in points per game (1.79).
In all, Bennett leads Coastal's attack that ranks first in the country in goals (38), assists (36) and total points (112).
Coastal (11-1-2, 6-0-0 Big South) will look to extend its 12-game unbeaten streak and 15-match regular season conference winning streak Wednesday night when Winthrop comes to the CCU Soccer Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Admission to the contest is free.
