CHARLOTTE, N.C.– For the second consecutive week, Coastal Carolina men's soccer senior forward Mkhokheli Dube (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe/Pumula (Lindsey Wilson)) was named Big South Conference Choice Hotels Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 14, the league office announced today. Last week Dube was named Co-Big South Player of the Week as well as the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Dube drained an amazing bicycle kick off a cross in the second minute and later found the net again in the 23rd minute as CCU downed Liberty 2-1, Oct. 12. The win gave the Chanticleers sole possesion of first place in the Big South Conference standings.
The Bulawayo, Zimbabwe native has scored six goals in CCU’s past three games and has logged eight total goals in nine games on the season. He ranks fourth in the nation in goals per game, averaging 0.89 per contest. He also ranks seventh in the NCAA in points per game, with a 1.89 average. As a team, CCU ranks 17th in scoring offense, averaging 2.09 points per game.
The CCU men’s soccer team (5-5-1) will return to the field Saturday, Oct. 20, for a nonconference match up with Davidson (2-10). Game time is set for 4 p.m., at Alumni Stadium in Davidson, N.C.
