The Coastal Carolina men’s soccer defense has earned the Coastal Carolina Athletes of the Week after holding the No. 1 scoring offense in the nation to no goals in the 0-0 tie against conference foe Liberty on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Coastal Carolina Soccer Field.

The Chanticleers held the Flames to no shots on goal in regulation and three in the entire game. The defensive backfield, led by Alex Russell and Levi Curnutte, held the Flames’ Darren Ammo, who was ranked fourth in Division I in points per game and goals per game, to only one shot on the day. In 110 minutes of play, the Flames tallied a total of nine shots.

Goalkeeper Scott Angevine made three saves, all in the first overtime, including two dramatic stops, to earn his first career shutout as a Chanticleer.
