Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten; Blanks Radford, 4-0

RADFORD, Va.— Mike Littlefield scored twice to lead No. 22 Coastal Carolina past Radford University, 4-0 in Big South Conference men’s soccer Saturday afternoon at Patrick D. Cupp Stadium.

Littlefield, the nation’s leading scorer entering the week, opened up the scoring in the first half heading the ball past RU keeper Harper Thorsen off a cross from Tobin Whitmarsh at the 25:17 mark.

That would prove to be all the Chanticleers would need as Coastal held a 1-0 advantage until the 65:27 mark. An own goal off RU defender Mike Winsted was the first of two CCU tallies in 1:15 span, in which Joseph Ngwenya added an unassisted goal making it 3-0 Chanticleers.

Littlefield would add Coastal’s final goal at the 79:05 mark. Littlefield gathered a cross through traffic and was assisted by Mubarike Chisoni.

CCU held the advantage in shots (15-9), corner kicks (10-2) and saves (7-4).

Aaron Sanders and Andrew Paxton picked up the combined shutout. Thorsen and Dan Stevens split time in goal for RU. Thorsen made two saves and allowed one goal, while Stevens allowed three goals and did not register a save.
