Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Big South Victory Over Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Despite an early lead, the Charleston Southern University men's soccer team was unable to hold off the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina as the visitors scored two second-half goals en route to a 2-1 Big South Conference victory.

Mike Littlefield's header off a pass from Justin Stone at the 64:49 mark of the contest proved to be the game-winning score for Coastal Carolina, who improved to 4-4 overall on the season. The winning goal came just 7:25 after Coastal had tied the match on a goal by Charlie Roberts, who headed a ball into the corner off a free kick from Tobin Whitmarsh.

Charleston Southern, which fell to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the Big South Conference, took an early lead on a goal by Janne Uusinarkaus just 25:34 into the contest. Itayi Pondwa assisted on the play for the Buccaneers.

Coastal Carolina outshot Charleston Southern 25-5 in the contest. CSU keeper Adam Laney recorded 12 saves, while Coastal Carolina's Michael Savage had two saves.
