CONWAY - The nationally ranked Coastal Carolina men's soccer team plays host to the UNC Wilmington Seahawks on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 pm at the CCU Soccer Field.
The Chanticleers (6-2) are currently ranked No. 24 by SoccerAmerica in addition to the being ranked sixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America South Atlantic Region. The Chants are also receiving votes in the NSCAA and CollegeSoccerNews.com national polls.
Coastal has won six of their last seven matches including wins over the then 16th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth and the 21st-ranked Ohio State on back-to-back Sundays. Coastal topped Gardner-Webb in their conference opener 3-1 last Friday, winning its first conference opener since 2008.
Coastal is currently ranked third in the NCAA in total goals with 22, while forward Ashton Bennett ranks 18th in the nation with six total goals, including two against Ohio State. Goalkeeper Scott Angevine leads the conference in save percentage (.806) and is tied for first with two shutouts.
Wednesday's match marks the 18th meeting between the two schools with the Chanticleers leading the overall series 9-7-1. Coastal Carolina knocked off the then No. 24 ranked Seahawks 1-0 last year in Wilmington.
