In a rematch of last years Big South Conference championship game, Coastal Carolina mens soccer (6-0, 1-0) will take the pitch Sunday, Sept. 26, against Birmingham-Southern (3-3, 0-1) at CCU Soccer Stadium at 2 p.m.
The Chanticleers are coming off a 3-1 victory earlier this week, Sept. 20, against Big South Conference- rival Liberty University and are looking to keep their record unblemished on the season and in conference play.
Coastal continues to make their mark in the national polls as it is currently ranked in all four and are rising by the week. Currently, the Chants are ranked #12 in Soccer Times, #13 in Soccer America, #14 in NSCAA/adidas and #17 in Soccer America.
Coastals Mubarike Chisoni (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe-Chegtu (Lindsey Wilson)) has led the charge for the Chants with eight goals and four assists for 20 points, which is currently third highest in the country.
Boyzzz Khumalo (Soweto, South Africa-Bethlehem (Lindsey Wilson)) has been the key distributor, with a nation-leading seven assists to go along with four goals. Jordie Hughes (Victoria. British Columbia-Spectrum) is the third weapon for the CCU attack with five goals and six assists for 16 points, which ranks seventh in the country.
Coastal soccer will next be in action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, as UNC Asheville arrives for a 4 p.m. match at CCU Soccer Field..
