CHANTS HOST CAL STATE FULLERTON: The Coastal Carolina University men’s soccer team (1-4-1) will host Cal State Fullerton (3-3) in nonconference action, Sept. 23. Game time is set for 1 p.m., at the CCU Soccer Field.

THE SERIES: Sunday’s match up will mark the first time that CCU and Cal State Fullerton have faced each other on the men’s soccer field.

SCOUTING THE TITANS: Cal State Fullerton has dropped its last three contests to even its record at 3-3, after starting the season 3-0. Most recently, the Titans dropped a 6-1 decision to The Ohio State University at the UCLA Tournament, Sept. 16.

TWO CHANTS SELECTED TO UNCW/JAMESON CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Senior Kheli Dube and freshman Matt Schroeder were named to the UNCW/Jameson Classic All-Tournament team. Dube netted his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss against the College of Charleston, Sept. 16. Schroeder anchored the defensive unit which allowed just two opponent goals in the tournament.

PORTER OFF TO HOT START: Freshman Kelly Porter currently leads the Chants and ranks fourth in the Big South Conference in goals (three) and points (seven). The Wichita, Kan. native has also been named to the CCU/adidas and Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational All-Tournament teams.



BETWEEN THE POSTS: Three goalkeepers have seen action for the Chants this season. Senior Aaron Weant has logged over 382 minutes between the posts this season in five contests with four starts, including picking up Coastal’s lone win. Weant has recorded six saves, while allowing five goals. Redshirt freshman Phillip Latham has earned two starts in three games totaling over 117 minutes of action, adding two saves. Freshman Matt Smith recorded two saves in 60:11 of action in his lone appearance.
